Pear-shaped jug with double handles, an opening at the base for insertion of a spigot. The impress stamp "M.Tyler & Co.Albany" and incised cobalt-filled inscription "Ed.Raynsford" appear above raised cobalt blue Masonic square and compasses, candlestick, crescent moon and star, and beehive. Moses Tyler (1794-1846) operated his own pottery in Albany, New York from 1822 to 1825. He took over the shop of Calvin Boynton in 1826 and operated it in partnership with Charles Dillon until 1834. Pots made during the partnership were marked "Tyler & Dillon Albany." From: John D. Hamilton. "Material Culture of the American Freemasons."
