Small bulbous creamer with brick red underglazed transfer-printed designs and black striping on a yellow creamware body. The principle design shows a Master of a lodge seated amid the working tools of a Mason. He supports a shield charged with the Freemason's arms, and is flanked by temple pillars of unequal height. On the opposite side is the motto "Masonry, Friendship and Love" within a floral border headed with square and compasses laid upon an open Bible, the three "lights" of Masonry, and the sun and moon. From: John D. Hamilton. "Material Culture of the American Freemasons." Lexington, Mass.: Scottish Rite Masonic Museum and Library, Inc., 1994, page 223.
