Guided Tours and Programs:
Sowing the Seeds of Liberty: Lexington and the American Revolution: On a spring day more than 200 years ago, battles at Lexington and Concord launched the American Revolution. In this program, students will be introduced to the colonial farming community of Lexington as well as the rising tensions between the colonists and their British rulers. Finally, they will follow the events that led to the confrontation on Lexington Green on April 19, 1775, and learn how ordinary people made extraordinary choices that changed history. Archeology Lab: How do archeologists find out about the past? Walk in their footsteps as you clean, identify, and interpret artifacts from colonial New England using similar tools and methods. Students will piece together clues about where the artifacts came from and the people who used them. Grades 4 through 8. $8 for 90-minute program. - Colonial Kids: What was life like for children in colonial New England? How did they live? Where did they go to school? How did they help on the family farm? What did they do for fun? Hands-on learning. Grades K through 3. Cost: $6 per student for 60-minute program.
From Union Jack to Old Glory: Trace the history and meaning of the Stars and Stripes through this interactive program featuring the Museum’s rare 15-star American flag. Participate in a flag folding ceremony and explore the rules for handling and displaying the flag. Grades 1 through 5. Cost: $8 for 90-minute program.
There is a minimum charge of $75 for guided tours and programs of fewer than 12 students. We require 1 chaperone, admitted free, for every 10 students. Each additional chaperone will be charged the student program fee of $6 or $8.
Guided tours or programs on weekends require a 50% deposit due within 5 days of booking your tour or program. Payment can be made by credit card, check, or cash. Cancellations made less than 7 calendar days before the tour or program will forfeit the deposit. Exceptions will only be made for extreme weather-related conditions.

Self-Guided Tours: There is no charge for self-guided tours, but if you have 10 or more in your group, you must make a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance. Although admission for these groups is free, we welcome donations.
Self-guided school groups of 25 must have 1 chaperone for every 10 students. Chaperones are responsible for the behavior and safety of the students in the museum. A confirmation will be sent to the person making arrangements to verify your request and to detail our guidelines.

Q. How do we pay?
A: Payment is required upon arrival and can be made by cash, check, or credit card. A deposit of 50% is required for weekend tours and programs only. Checks can be made out to the National Heritage Museum. We accept any of the following credit cards: American Express, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
Q. What if I need to cancel my trip?
A: If you need to cancel or reschedule your visit, please give us 7 calendar days notice for guided school, scout and adult tours or programs. Exceptions will be made for weather-related cancellations or school closings.
Q. What if we’re going to be delayed?
A: Please call the museum receptionist at 781-457-4101 if you will be delayed.
Q. How many chaperones do we need?
A: Student groups must bring one chaperone for every ten students. Chaperones are responsible for the safety and behavior of the students. They should remain with that group while at the museum, including in the gift shop.
Q. Where do we go when we arrive?
A: Your group should be dropped off at our front entrance. The bus driver should park in our lot. Group leaders should check in at the front desk located just inside our lobby.
Q. Can we eat at the museum?
A: There is no food, drink or chewing gum allowed in the exhibition galleries. Groups are welcome to picnic on the grounds in good weather. Unfortunately, we do not have indoor eating facilities for student groups.
Q. Can students work on assignments in the gallery?
A. Students in a paid tour or workshop should not have another assignment to work on during their program time. At other times, students may use clipboards or notebooks and pencils in the gallery.
Q. Are students welcome in the gift shop?
A. Yes, ten students, with chaperones, are allowed in the gift shop at one time. Groups of students without chaperones cannot be accommodated in the shop. Teachers with their MTA card receive 10% off purchases.
